"Star Me Kitten" or "Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty, Little Ball of Fur?"  I continue to be stalked on a daily basis. Meow's that for a ferocious predator?

Yes, it's a picture of a urinal in Burgin Dossett. No, that is not my Mountain Dew, nor is that my urine. I just happened to walk in and the situation demanded that I take a picture.  I am assuming that the liquid inside the bottle is soda and not in fact a urine sample gone bad. I did not bother to investigate this further. THAT would be creepy.

Tonight's class consisted of a well read, well prepared LGBT panel who were more than ready to share with my undergraduates tonight.  One of our local LGBT advocates is none other than Eureka O'Hara. She completely disarmed the class with her presence and humor. Topics were varied and questions came from the class - what is it like to live in the South? Why do many LGBT people wait until after they graduate or move away or after they retire (from sports) to come out? What about the role of religion in your lives? Nature versus nurture? What have your experiences been like in the health care arena?  Are you out? Does your family know? What's the big deal?  There was lots of good discussion all around from all of the panel.

Beautiful day.

I've been bed bound all day (and not in the good way) so you'll forgive me for not taking a picture today. I took this the other day. I have a fascination with natural patterns. I find these designs comforting.

A graduation gift that I proudly display in my living room.  It's an original, a one of a kind painted by a one of a kind guy.

All is bright and beautiful tonight in my world

Hundreds of evergreen trees have beached themselves onto the shores of Boone Lake in groups of threes and fours. It is unclear at this point if orgiastic mating rituals will follow suit.

Posting this late (no internet at my apartment last night). Reviewing one of my teaching points for class at lunch. Short introduction to Title VI of the Civil Rights Act and linguistic obligations for Limited English Proficiency (LEP) populations. All entities  that receive any Federal funding, either directly or indirectly through a sub-grant or sub-contract are obligated to comply with Title VI.

Although  there is an "urgent need", fags need not apply. My own "the personal is political" statement. This antiquated and uniformed policy should be put to rest.

Evening sunlight illuminating a cave that for most of the year is underwater. The lake is at record low levels this year.

I am reminded of the story of Oisin  and his journey into the land of youth from Oisin in Tir na nOg,   entering the land of the undying through a portal and although he thinks he has been gone for only 3 years, he in fact was gone for over 300 years.  The Celts believed that the otherworld existed alongside their world and that they could easily be transported to the land of the fey through doorways. Perhaps the portal could also have been through a mirror image as is often found in pools of water.
